RYLA 2017 was a rousing success. Three Rotary Clubs in North Alabama – Huntsville, Greater Huntsville, and Madison – joined the Huntsville community Rotaract Club in hosting this year’s event at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center on January 26 – 28. RYLA 2017 invited 117 high school leaders from across North Alabama to engage in learning about Rotary’s mission, leadership, and service. The Rotary Club of Madison sponsored 11 teenagers from James Clemens, Bob Jones and St. John Paul II Catholic high schools and Madison and Westminster Christian academies to attend the annual Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA). All clubs in Rotary District 6860, which covers North Alabama were eligible to sponsor scholars. This year, 106 sophomores, juniors and seniors attended and stayed on-site at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville.
The Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) conference attracted 96 teenagers for a weekend of character building at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center on Jan. 30 through Feb. 1. Rotary clubs in District 6860 sponsored the selected sophomores, junior and seniors who were screened for academic records, volunteering and hobbies.
