The forecast thunderstorms held off this past Saturday long enough for us to cleanup our “Rotary Mile” of Sullivan Street. About 20 Rotarians wearing “Rotarian at Work” shirts and vests walked north from Highway 20 to approximately the railroad tracks, picking up litter along the way. Our first Adopt-a-Mile cleanup day was just one more of our Done-in-a-Day projects that, at the end of the day, leaves our city a little better than when […]
Thanks to all the Rotarians who turned out on Friday afternoon to help the Friends of the Library get their children’s garden ready for the May 21 Summer Reading program. This was our first Done-in-a-Day project this month and we were thankful the rain held off so we could finish laying sod in this beautiful garden. It was a great day to be a Rotarian to help our wonderful library.
The Salvation Army presented the Rotary Club of Madison with the First Place Award for collecting over $4,000 in December 2016. Ms. Pamela Donald, volunteer coordinator, presented the award to Madison Rotarians Gail LeCroy and Debbie Overcash at the annual volunteer luncheon on May 10, 2017. In addition to being great Rotarians, Gail, Debbie, and Paula Cushman (not pictured) also serve on the Salvation Army’s Board of Advisors. Madison Rotarians are proud to support […]
Done-in-a-Day Projects cover just about anything you can imagine. When we find a need, we find a day to put our “Service Above Self” motto to work. Past projects have included supporting a Wounded Warrior softball game, working with CASA to build a wheelchair ramp, collecting health and hygiene products for underprivileged children, and cleaning graffiti from Rainbow Mountain hiking trails.
Another day, another project! Saturday found about 20 Madison Rotarians coming to the aid of a local resident to help with installing insulation and performing general yard cleanup. Pictured above are Rotarians Stephen Shaw, Bill Drake, Andre Coleman, and Paul Anderson. Thanks to Nexus Energy Center for allowing us to be your Done-in-a-Day partner!
In February, we host the annual Steve Croomes Memorial Mardi Gras Party at the Madison Senior Center. The event is highlighted by crowning the Mardi Gras King and Queen who are the guests of honor on our parade float during the Christmas Downtown Celebration. So, join us in December at the Madison Christmas Parade to honor the King and Queen!
We took advantage of February’s record warm weather to join CASA in building a wheelchair ramp. Even our kids came out to participate in this great service project. Contact us if you’d like to participate in our next Done-in-a-Day Project.
CHRISTMAS CARD LANE is an outdoor, life-size card exhibit located in the heart of Madison, put on by Madison Arts Council, where you’ll find whimsical, traditional, and religious themes amongst the more than thirty designs on display.
To kick off the Holiday Season, Rotarians take shifts at the local Wal-Mart to support the Salvation Army by ringing the famous bells for the red kettle. Pictured above is Rotarian Gail LeCroy and husband Ronnie. A special gratitude to Gail for organizing our participation in this community event each year.
