Rotary Celebrates Mardi Gras at the Senior Center

Madison Rotarians hosted the 2nd annual “Steve Croomes Memorial Mardi Gras Party” at Madison Senior Center on Feb. 9, 2018.

Steve was serving as our club president when he passed away in spring 2015.  He was a native of Athens, but loved New Orleans and Mardi Gras.  For many years, he was part of the Krewe of Endymion, the largest Mardi Gras parade in New Orleans with more than 3,000 riders and 37 floats.

So, we decided what better way to keep his spirit alive than by hosting this great party.  As part of the celebration, we randomly drew tickets for the King and Queen of the event.  This year, the lucky winners were King Billy Mooney and Queen Brenda Jackson.  Also, we acknowledged Mr. Jim Jones, a friend of Steve’s who came to enjoy the party and remember Steve.
