Polio Infrastructure Helping Stop Malaria in Nigeria

In Borno State, where conflict has displaced thousands of people, malaria is currently claiming more lives than all other diseases combined.

Polio workers are the driving force behind a major public health campaign to stop the disease, delivering antimalarial medications alongside polio vaccinations on a mass scale. Their efforts are an important example of how the polio program works with other initiatives to meet the wider health needs of vulnerable populations.  Pictured above is a a child in Nigeria receiving a dose of antimalarial medication alongside a polio vaccine in a coordinated campaign.
