Reading for the Record 2017

On October 19, 2017,  the Rotary Club of Madison took part in United Way’s, Read for the Record Initiative.

It was United Way of Madison County’s 9th Annual shared reading experience highlighting the importance of children’s literacy.  Seven club volunteers (Tim Stone, Morris Lilienthal, Paula Cushman, Bailey Erickson, Bill Holtzclaw, Donna Berger, and Sheila Nash-Stevenson [pictured above]) visited Madison Elementary and read “Quackers” — a book about a cat that thinks it’s a duck — to a total of 14 classes of k-2nd graders.  This literacy initiative aligned perfectly with Youth Services, one of Rotary’s Avenues of Service, that recognizes the importance of empowering youth.
